FAQ

Everything you might be wondering before you line up behind the 2:10 flag. Running with a bus for the first time? Start here.

Look for the 2:10 flag held high in the start area. I’ll be there well before gun time, so come find me early, say hi, and settle in around the flag. The earlier you find the bus, the less you have to weave through the crowd once we start.
I pace to gun time — the clock starts when the horn goes, not when you cross the mat. That means if you start a few rows back, your personal chip time will be even faster than 2:10. Staying with me guarantees you finish under 2:10 on the gun, with a little extra in the bank on chip.
Don’t panic and don’t sprint to catch up in one go — that burns matches you’ll want later. Keep the flag in sight and reel us in gradually over a kilometre or two. The plan has a 20-second buffer built in, so there’s a small cushion. If you’re having a rough patch, run your own effort; a pacer is a target, not a leash.
Go for it — especially in the back half. If you’re still fresh at KM 15 and the legs feel good, edge ahead and chase a personal best. My job is to make sure you don’t go out too hot early; once you’ve earned it late, a controlled surge to the line is exactly what the plan is built around.
If your recent long runs and past half times put you around the 2:05–2:15 range, the 2:10 bus is a great fit. If you’re comfortably quicker, pick a faster bus and use us as a fallback. If 2:10 is a stretch goal, tuck in, hold on as long as you can, and even if you drift off late you’ll have run a smart, even race.
I won’t fully stop, but I’ll ease the pace slightly through aid stations so you can grab water or an electrolyte drink without losing the bus. Grab, sip, and settle back in. In Chennai’s July heat, take fluid at every station even if you don’t feel thirsty yet — it’s the single biggest thing that’ll keep you with the group late.
A bit of both. I’ll call out the phase changes, give a heads-up before aid stations, and keep the group encouraged — but I also read the room. Early on there’s chatter; in the tough later kilometres I’ll keep it simpler and just help you lock into rhythm. Either way, you’ll always know where we are against the plan.
July in Chennai is humid, so respect it. We start early for a reason. Stick to the plan’s even effort rather than chasing exact splits if the heat builds — on a hard day, effort matters more than the watch. Hydrate at every point, don’t skip electrolytes, and if you feel dizzy or stop sweating, back off and flag a marshal. Finishing healthy always beats finishing fast.
